Here is a sad retelling of a story from 40 years ago -- a time I well remember -- when a surprise invasion of Cambodia triggered student protests all across the US:

Vietnam, marines "restore order" in Beirut, invasion of Grenada, Panama invasion, first Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), Somalia (Battle of Mogadishu), bombing of Bosnian Serbs, bombing of Serbia, war in Afghanistan, invasion of Iraq, ...
There is a fairly complete list of US military actions on Wikipedia. It is a rather impressive list for a "peaceful" people and for an army, one branch of which has the motto "Peace is Our Profession".
