Data and Graphs on American Income 1917-2008

The EPI has published a wonderful set of web pages with lots of informationa dn graphs about the "state of working America". It is well worth your time visiting the site.

My favourite is the intreractive chart on the main page with sliders that let you isolate some stretch of years between 1917 and 2008 and look at how the bottom 90% did, how the top 10% did, how the top 1% did in terms of income gains and losses. It is a real "eye opener".
