Here is an interesting video where Chris Hedges talks about his book Death of the Liberal Class:
His thesis that the Democratic party shifted away from classic liberalism is true enough. But at the same time the Republican party shifted away from classic conservatism. So now you have two parties which are essentially fronts for big corporations whose lobbying means they own the politicians. It is a sad history.
