I love it when a "scientific result" gets us all to rush to one side of the boat only to realize that we may now tip the boat over and drown. In an effort to be healthier, we all now avoid trans fats. But -- surprise! -- a new science report tells us that in fact there are "good" trans fats that we should consume to be healthy!
University of Alberta researcher Flora Wang found that a diet with enriched levels of trans vaccenic acid (VA) -- a natural animal fat found in dairy and beef products -- can reduce risk factors associated with heart disease, diabetes and obesity. ... "As the VA results illustrate, some natural trans fats are not harmful and may in fact be very good for you," she said.
