Here is a talk by Robert Reich at The Commonwealth Club in California. Here he gives his 2010 prediction about the economy. (Skip past the first 2 minutes of introductions.)
I got a real kick out of his etymological interpretation of "politics" at 36:15 into the video. He jokingly claims the root of politics comes from Greek "poly" for "many" and "ticks". Yep... that's it! A lot of blood suckers. That is an excellent characterization of politics.
At 14:10 he gives a example of his financial "acumen" in terms of his experience buying a house in California.
At 40:00 he warns that the current economic duress creates fertile ground for ugly politics, a politics of frustration and anger. He calls for dialog across the political spectrum to ensure fanaticism and violence don't break out. Funny thing, the Republicans have a policy of "no dialog" and "no deals" and "no listening". It is exceedingly hard to work to prevent disaster when your biggest partner turns a deaf ear to your call for dialog!
Robert Reich produces an excellent blog, read it!
