Obama the Inept

Obama went to bat for Chicago as an Olympic venue... Chicago lost.

Obama flew to Copenhagen to make a deal on climate change... the meeting fizzled.

Obama made a last minute flight into Massachusetts to save the Democratic candidate... and she lost.

There is a theme here.

Obama, the supposedly magisterial candidate, has feet of clay. His election was a fluke. He has no vision for America. He's had a year to galvanize the left to bring social change and instead has spent all his time playing footsie with a rabid right wing Republican minority in Congress letting his legislative agenda fall apart.

When it came to galvanizing the effort to save the economy, Obama decided he would rather talk about health care. But then he decided to not "lead" that effort but instead let the Congress sort out a position for itself. Even when Congress kept missing his deadlines, Obama refused to get involved.

He has fumbled and futzed everything he has touched. He haa a reverse Midas touch for politics. And the most amazing thing... he seems to be utterly ignorant of his incompetence. He has admitted to no failing. He is the emperor with no clothes strutting about admiring himself in the mirror of his own mind.

And the American people suffer.

Worse... the American people have now fallen into the grasp of the Republican party again. The very party that sneers that "the little people". The party that ripped and shredded the government and all social institutions. Obama has let these monster back in... back in through the front door by handing them victory is a "can't lose" election for Ted Kennedy's old seat!!!

Obama is the new Jimmy Carter.

I sigh for the long suffering Americans who are re-entering the dark night of the soul ruled by the fanatics who brought you the unnecessary war in Iraq, the party that fiddled while New Orleans gurgled and drown, the party that decided there was "too much money" in the federal coffers and gave a trillion dollar tax freebie to the super-rich, the party that decided that Americans are for torture even when it doesn't work and only turns Americans into monsters in the eyes of the whole world.

I can't believe it. My life has been a nightmare since the day John F. Kennedy was shot. All those things I thought I knew about America have unraveled. Instead of a light on the hill, the fanatics brought you the culture wars that has delivered an endless "War on Drugs" and cynical politicking that demonizes gays, feminists, intellectuals, and artists. Hate mongerers bombed churches in the South because they hated niggers. Cops beat protesters in the 1960s because the land of the free didn't want anybody freely expressing an opinion. The Republicans embraced the culture of the 1980s which shouted "greed is good!". The Republican "family values" politicians fell one after another caught up in one sex scandal after another. The Republicans decided that the only good government was no government so they rolled back regulations and created two bank crises: first the Savings & Loan debacle of the 1980s and now the Wall Street meltdown of 2008.

With all this, the voting public has just gone out and elected another Republican!!!
