Here is Scott Ridder, the chief UN weapons inspector in Iraq prior to Bush's decision to stop inspecting and start war-making. In this video he gives a very good lecture on the civic responsibility to inform ourselves. He says you can blame Bush, the Congress, and the media for leading the US into the mess it is in. But ultimately, the citizens have to take responsibility for the mess because they need to be informed and use that knowledge to force the president, the Congress, and the media to do a better job. This is a very good little pep talk, a very good civic lesson:
